Next Session JAN 7 to FEB 28

Hi Folks, our 2nd Winter Session will begin January 7 to February 28. Registration is taking place on Thursday Dec 20 and Friday Dec 21 at the Woodbury Competition pool from 3:45pm to 4:45pm. We will need registration and waiver form before the start of the session. You can also mail your registration, waiver, and payment in (the address is on the registration form on our website). Intersession Registration

InterSession registration is due by Thursday to coach Kaylen. The cost is $45 and it is going to be held at the Rancho Santiago Pool and coached by Ed Carrera and his staff.

Pro-Rate for January Session

As of the new year 2013 we will be changing a few things about Woodbury Aquatics:

1. Pro-rate will still be available but we will be very strict on NO MAKE UP DAYS and NO REFUNDS. If you are scheduled to go Monday and Wednesday than those are your days and if you miss there is no make-up. We will not be as flexible because it has become an issue. We will no longer be responsible for illness, injury, etc. If you choose to show up on a day you are not scheduled it is $12 for the day

2. Lessons, if you are a no-show for your lesson you forfeit that lesson.

3. If your swimmer has hair to their shoulders or longer we are going to require that they wear a cap (safety issue).

Last but not least, we understand time restraints but swimming a couple days a week is not a recipe for success. We are strongly recommending that swimmers commit to the full session if you are serious about improvement.
If you are swimming once or twice a week don't expect improvement, that is made to maintain your stamina. The only way to improve is by going to every class!

Inter Session NOT at WOODBURY DEC 17 to DEC 20

Starting December 17 we will have a 1 week Inter Session. The camp will be from 5:30pm-6:30pm and coaches will be in the water demonstrating turns, dives, streamline, and proper stroke technique. We have done Inter Sessions in the past and they have been very successful. This will be a 1 week camp from Dec 17 to Dec 20, I suggest coming to all the classes as each day we will be dissecting each stroke. Monday free, Tues breast, etc... The cost of this class is $45. There will be 3 coaches in the water.
Please note that Inter Session will NOT be at Woodbury, the pool will be closed from Dec 14-Dec 21. Inter Session will be held at Rancho Santiago Community College located at the end of Jamboree.
Take Portola towards Jamboree, make a Right on Jamboree and a left on Chapman, then make your 1st right into campus and stay to the right, the pool is located at the top of the huge stairs.

Woodbury Aquatic TEAM Swim Suits

This week Woodbury Aquatics will be taking TEAM swim suit orders for purchase. If you don't know your size coach Kaylen will have a sizing kit available for you to try on the suit (parent must be present). We will also be taking orders on T-shirts (Adult sizes) for swimmers and parents. I would really like our team to stand out and be in uniform for the next few competitions (Championships NOV 16, is the next one).

Winter Registration and other INFO

Winter Registration will be set up a little different this time around.  We will be accepting registration on the pool deck Monday October 15th and Wednesday October 17th from 3:30pm to 4:30pm.  We would like to get an idea of how many participants we will have this winter.  The swim session will begin October 22.

Also, this winter we will be competing in two meets both at Woodbridge, the first meet is October 26 (event sheet on the website) and the second meet will be a championship meet with teams from Laguna Beach, Aliso Viejo, and Irvine on November 16th.  More info to come at a later date.

Winter Session OCT 22

The new WINTER SESSION begins October 22, 2012.
3:30pm-4:30pm SWELL GROUP 1 (beginner to intermediate, 10 years old or younger)
4:30pm-5:30pm SWELL GROUP 2 (beginner to intermediate, 10 years old or younger)
4:30pm-6pm SURF GROUP (intermediate to advanced, 11 years old and up)
If you are in the SWELL GROUP I highly recommend you sign up for the 3:30pm to 4:30pm they are smaller class sizes. The 4:30pm-5:30pm SWELL GROUP has been added for your convenience, but it is a very busy time at the pool.
The ages are recommendations, we want to put your swimmer with kids at the same level. There will be some exceptions on the age recommendations on a swimmer to swimmer basis. (For example a fast 7 year old that has many years of swim experience may move up.)
Also, PLEASE NOTE. We do NOT do PAY AS YOU GO. If your swimmer is sick, you are out of town, or it's raining, etc. We do not do refunds once the session has begun. We will also NOT be offering ROLLOVER to the next session if you miss a class. It is your responsibility to make it to practice.
We will be offering pro-rate on a minimum of 2 days a week. If you decide to pro-rate here is the breakdown:
2 days a week = $130
3 days a week = $195
4 days a week = $250 (best value)
Upon registration we must know the days that you are planning on attending, example Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday or Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or all days.

We will have a swim meet at Woodbridge on October 26, 2012 at the Woodbridge Pool (address to be announced). Warm-up will begin at 3:30pm. More info to come!

Please note we will begin our WINTER SESSION on October 22, 2012. The last day of our current session is October 11, we will then take a week break and start up again on 10/22/12.

We will be passing out awards at practice Monday October 1st. Parents if you have an opportunity please see one of the coaches to get your swimmers award. If not we will hand them to the kids.

Woodbury Aquatics will have a dual meet vs Woodbridge on Friday September 28, 2012. We will not be doing relays, just the individual events. This is a great way to track your swimmers improvement and keep the competitive edge. Warm-up will begin at 3pm on Friday and we will begin the meet between 3:30pm and 3:45pm. Changes in website

As most of you know, I have left Northwood High School Water Polo and have began coaching at Orange Lutheran High School. Instead of start a new blog I decided to change the NHS Blog that I have been operating for the last few years and make it my personal blog that will allow me to update info about any water polo, swimming, coaching or playing info that I may have. No practice LABOR DAY

Woodbury Aquatics will not have practice on Labor Day. Enjoy the holiday!

NO swim shirts

Please refrain from using shirts and shorts when swimming. Shirts will only make it harder for your swimmer to improve and it causes a lack of mobility. Please apply sunscreen 20 minutes before practice. Swim suit only please.

Woodbury Surf Group Closed

Woodbury Aquatics Surf Group is Closed and the 4:30pm-5:30pm Swell Group is also closed. The 3:30pm-4:30pm Swell group is still open for registration.

RIPPLES CLASS Participation

Because of the lack of participants we will not be offering the RIPPLES Class in the fall.  We need a minimum of 3 students per class to open up.

2 Swell practice times

Please note we will have 2 swell group practice times for your convenience, 3:30pm-4:30pm and 4:30pm-5:30pm. Choose the class that best fits your schedule.

Fall Session August 20-October 11

Registration is now open for the WOODBURY AQUATICS FALL SESSION. The New Fall Session will begin August 20, 2012- October 11, 2012. 8 and under (and beginners) will work-out from 3:30pm to 4:30pm and the 9 and up (experienced) will work out from 4:30pm-6pm. Please note that practice times for your swimmer may change depending on swimmers ability. Please have Waiver and Registration forms turned in by the 1st day of class or you can mail registration to the address on the registration form. NO SWIMMER WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE POOL WITHOUT FORMS AND PAYMENT. Sibling Discount is available for families who are doing the entire session, we do not offer pro-rate and sibling discount. It is one or the other. Please email us with any questions.

Inter Session

Woodbury Aquatics will be having a 2 week intersession from July 23 to August 3rd. If you choose to pro-rate you must let us know before registration. The Intersession will cost $80 ($10 per class). Please Note: You can not ask for a refund for missed days after Registration has been collected. Please dates that will be missed prior to registration. No Swimmer will be allowed in the pool until Waiver form and registration form is handed in to Coach Kaylen.

Ripples classes PLEASE READ

    This is the last week of ripples classes.  We will go straight into the last summer five week session, June 25 - July 30.  We will not be having class on July fourth, that is why we will end on a Monday, July 30th.  After that we take a break and start fall session late August. In order to put the classes together for next five weeks, we are going to need to know who is going to continue.  So if you could please email back at let us know, we could get a schedule out to you ASAP.  Also if you are not returning please let us know, so we can open up a spot.

Summer registration closed

Registration for summer session 2012 is now closed. Classes have filled up and we have no openings available. We will be excepting registration for the fall beginning in August.

Woodbury Aquatics Summer Session

Summer Session 2012 has begun! We are starting our 2nd week of training (8 total). Practice is from 6pm-7pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. We must be sure to be courteous and exit the water immediately so that other residents can use the pool. Sign ups will end this week.

Woodbury Aquatics Start Date

Our Summer Session will begin TUESDAY MAY 29, 2012 at 6:15pm, please make a note of that. On the 1st day of practice please have waiver form and registration form filled out along with tuition for the summer session of $250 made out to WOODBURY AQUATICS.

Inter-Session Starts TODAY!!!

Hi Folks, our Inter-Session swim skills clinic starts today! It is a 2 week class MTWTH, coaches will be in the water helping with starts, turns, finishes, and stroke!

Woodbury Inter-Session REMINDER

Woodbury Aquatics will be hosting a 2 week INTER-SESSION beginning May 14 thru May 24, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. This will be a skills camp that will be focusing on Dives, Turns, and Finishes, as well as Stroke work. Each Coach will be teaching a different skill and the kids will be put in groups and will rotate after 20/30 minutes at each station. Coaches will be in and out of the water to assist and show how to do the skills properly. The cost of the skills camp is $70 per athlete. 8 years old and under will practice from 3:30pm-4:30pm 9 years old and up will practice from 4:30pm-6pm Please let us know if you have any questions!

Summer Session May 28 @ 6pm

Woodbury Aquatics is hosting a summer session starting May 28-July 19. Practice will begin at 6:15pm (after ISL) the cost of this session will be $250 for 4 days a week, for 8 weeks. Pro-rate is available but please note if you are only coming once a week the cost will be $10 per class. Please email us with any questions you may have.

Intercession Session 2 week prep

Woodbury Aquatics will be hosting an intercession from May 14-May 24 from the hours of 3:30pm-4:30 for 8 and under and 4:30pm-6pm for 9 and up. This 2 week session will be Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs for 2 weeks and the price will be $70. With the short intercession we will not pro-rate or be offering sibling discounts. This is a preparatory class leading up to Irvine Swim League.

Rescheduling classes

Classes will not be rescheduled under any circumstances (unless we cancel), we will have normal practice regardless, the only time we will not have practice is when there is lightning. Practices will not be "rolled over" or "credited" to another session because you have missed.

Coach Ed will Return to the pool deck March 27

Coach Ed Carrera will be back on the pool deck March 27, 2012. He will be missing the 1st week of the Spring Session for the South American Games that will be taking place in Brazil. Coach Ed will be competing for the Ecuador Water Polo National Team.

Woodbury Aquatics and Woodbury Waves are DIFFERENT

Registering for Woodbury Aquatics is different than registering with the Woodbury Waves Summer Irvine Swim League. THe Woodbury Waves is a summer program that is run through the HOA at Woodbury and ISL (Irvine Swim League). Registering for Woodbury Aquatics does not give you any advantage to participating on the Woodbury Waves Swim Team.

Woodbury Aquatics is a year around swim school, Woodbury Waves is a summer league swim team. They are two separate entities.

RIPPLES (LEARN TO SWIM)

Ripples Group
This class is designed to get children water safe. Introduction to the 4 strokes with an instructor in the water. These classes are 30 minutes 2 days a week for 5 weeks. No more than 3 per group. This class will fill up quickly so please email me at Woodburyaquatics@gmail.com to get you registered.
